Before the surgery

Inquiries are made about whether the patient suffers from any chronic disease that may cause the inability to perform the surgery, and about the reasons that prompted the patient to do this surgery.

The nose is examined using the endoscope, and the doctor will ask the patient to do blood tests that include a complete blood count, blood chemistry analysis , and some other tests.

You should consult your doctor about medications to stop taking before surgery. It is also necessary to abstain from drinking alcohol for 48 hours before the surgery, and you must fast for a full 8 hours before the surgery if it was under the influence of general anesthesia .

During surgery

This surgery can be done under local or general anesthesia, and most types of surgeries take about one to two hours, where incisions are made in the nose, which can be inside the nose (Closed Rhinoplasty) or outside the nose (Open Rhinoplasty).

After that, the nasal bone is removed and the nose is shaped according to the need, and in some special cases the need to transplant cartilaginous tissue from the ear.

The incision is closed using some sutures that dissolve on their own. At the end of the surgery, tampons are placed in order to stop the immediate bleeding , and the tip of the nose is bandaged to prevent it from moving.

Post surgery

Swelling occurs in the face, especially in the nose area, and in some cases, bruises may appear under the eyes, which disappear within 2-3 weeks.

The patient should stay in the hospital for one day only to make sure his condition is stable, and the tampons are removed from the nose during the day of surgery itself, or one or two days after the surgery, and the plaster is removed after a week.

The patient is expected to experience headaches in the first days after surgery; So he can use pain relievers .

It takes 10 to 14 days to fully recover from surgery, during which strenuous activities, rubbing the nose, or exposing it to trauma, and it is recommended to refrain from excessive exposure to the sun for 3 months.

It is important to know that the process of completing the formation of the appearance of the nose is a long process, as the nose reaches its final appearance only after several months and may take a whole year.
